Blogging has become an integral part of my life. Unfortunately I have not been able to blog as per my schedule due to unexpected jobs cropping up in between. For 2018, I have decided to set up some blogging goals.

If you are a blogger and have decided that you want to attract the attention of PR companies and the like, one term that you must have come across is of course, a media kit. So what is this mythical thing?
A media kit is basically a document that outlines the key facts and statistics about your blog. You supply your media kit to the potential brands or advertisers that you would like to collaborate with.
What to include in your media kit?
Introduction/A short bio about your blog
You should include details like how old your blog is and the niche that your blog belongs to. You should also include parts of your blog that would be of interest to the potential brand or advertiser that you are contacting for example, if you’re contacting a makeup company, mention your series on Make Up Tutorials.
Include pictures that highlight what you’re trying to say for eg. You could include pictures from a previous collaboration. You could also use icons for the social media platforms that you are a user of instead of simply stating how many followers you have on each.
Make sure you include a photo of yourself (So the brand can recognise you, personally) & include your blog’s logo. When including your blog’s logo, try to include it at a printable resolution. If you cannot do this, contact your blog designer & if you don’t have one yet simply use your header text until you decide to get one. (Take part in the #Giveaway to #win yourself a #logo)
You will need to include your blog statistics so that the brand has a clear indication of what results they can expect from you. Statistics give the brand an idea of the size of your audience and reach.
Include the following:
Your subscribers (RSS, Email, Social Media etc)
Monthly unique visitors
Demographics (Age range, Gender etc)
If you’re a newbie, it’s okay. Mention how well your blog reach is growing for example, you could mention that although you started blogging last month, your facebook page following has grown by 400%.
Testimonials & Previous work
If you have done any previous collaborations, it is definitely worth mentioning. You could simply just add brand logos that you have worked with or include testimonials from previous collaborations.
Don’t forget to let them know how to contact you! All your contact details should be given on your media kit! Put in a line specifying what the brand should do next. For example, to start collaborating with me, drop me a mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
