September 27, 2017
So you have your blog up and running and you’re tapping yourself on the back for implementing SEO. Now you’re thinking, let’s try and make some money, right? Okay, so lets talk affiliate marketing.
So first things first,
What is affiliate marketing?
Basically, affiliate marketing is when someone (the affiliate) recommends a product/service in exchange for a commission on the sale of that product or service.
How does affilliate marketing work?
Step 1: You created and own your blog.
Step 2: You like a product or service. For example, I love MRP so getting to affiliate anything of their brand is great for me! In fact, they have a competition at the moment (Get a new wardrobe, with a R1000 fashion voucher) Check it out here!
Step 3: Sign up for their affiliate program. Some might be able to sign up directly, like with Bluehost, or you may have to apply through other programs like affiliates.co.za, offerforge & admarula(south africans).
Step 4: Recommend those products/services that you signed up to be an affiliate for.
Step 5: Based on your amazing recommendations, people purchase the product/services through your web site.
Step 6: Earn your commission!

Tutorials that focus on the products that you promote – For example, How to make money with amazon affiliates
Work affiliate links into your posts – As you are writing your new posts look for opportunites to mention the products that you promote as an affiliate
Promote your key posts that include affiliate links – Promote your affiliate posts through social media, automated media sharing apps etc.
Be transparent – If your post contains affiliate links, please mention that.
Be patient – Blogging is NOT a get rich quick scheme. You have to be patient because these things take time, especially if you’re just a start up.
