The Husband Series – Mr & Mrs Heine – Adel – The Blushing Maiden
February 16, 2018
Me and my hubby are total opposites, he is everything that I am not.
We might not have the same interests or taste in movies, but we complete each other, two halves of the same heart.
Today, it’s Adel Heine, gorgeous wife, mom & blogger will be opening up about her other half.
Tell me your love story.
The first time we met we were both on dates with different people. A few weeks later we met again at a mutual friend’s house and we exchanged numbers and started chatting. We immediately hit it off, and the rest is history. (I was only 15 years old when we met)
Who popped the question & how?
He set up such a sweet little picnic on our living room floor, went down on one knee and sang “you are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy, will you marry me?” and he held out a beautiful engagement ring, which I couldn’t see because my eyes were blurry from the tears.
What are those super awesome little things that you love about your hubby?
He makes me coffee when I’ve had a bad day, and sometimes he sprinkles baby powder on my side of the bed because he knows I love the feeling of fresh sheets. The small gestures mean more to me than he knows.
Name a few things that you feel, that no one can do as good as your husband can?
No one pours a better gin and dry lemon than my hubby. Also, he is the tech whisperer, he can fix any cellphone/laptop/internet problem.
If you could thank your husband today, what would you thank him for?
First of all, for my children. But also for being my rock and never leaving my side.
What annoying thing does he do that makes you want to kill him when he’s there but that you miss when he’s not around?
He sleeps on my pillow, and it drives me crazy! But when he’s not in bed with me I miss him so much.
If we could celebrate husband appreciation day, what would you let him do/do for him to let him know that you appreciate him?
We haven’t had a date night in ages, so I would take him on an awesome night out, and we can “let our hair down” and be a couple instead of just parents.
What are some of the things, that you simply cannot do without your husband?
I couldn’t have survived labour and giving birth without my husband. I also hate attending school functions without him.
What is the one thing you hate to do, that he does for you?
We have a pet hamster, and I hate cleaning the cage. He often cleans it for me, so I don’t have to.
Share with us a memory that was shared between the both of you, that has become an everlasting milestone?
When we moved into our first home, we didn’t have dstv or couches, so we often talk about how we would watch SABC 2 while sitting on camping chairs. Haha! It’s such a silly little memory, but it’s nice to look back on how far we have come.
What is the most special thing that he has ever done for you or said to you?
He said he could barely hold back the tears when he saw me on our wedding day. My husband is not an emotional person at all, so that was really special to me.
What are the words that are most frequently exchanged between you two?
“I love you” closely followed by “will you make me coffee, please?”
Do you have any special traditions? Eg. Valentines dinner etc
We usually have a nice dinner at home followed by movies when the kids are in bed. I always fall asleep on the couch during the movie, though.
