#LifehackMonday : Lifehacks to fake a clean house

If you have kids or you’re just a really busy someone who doesn’t always have the time to keep things spotless, you will know that when you’re having guests over on short notice, cleaning your house seems like an impossible task! Here are 5 life hacks to fake a clean house. Don’t forget that you’re really going to have to clean it afterward, however, for the time being you can impress everyone with your seemingly spotless home.

Follow the line of sight

Walk into your home & decide where people will look first. Clean these places first by removing all the rubbish and throwing them into a plastic bag. Then wipe down all the surfaces that attract your attention. Grab a second bag/storage box and put in all unnecessary things that are lying around.

Lounge & Kitchen

Sweep/Vacuum the area. In my experience, vacuuming is faster and more effective. Wipe down the counters of the kitchen and put the dishes away. Store away unsightly items & wash up the dishes. Remember, with a kitchen, less is more. So even if you take 90% of your stuff and throw them in the oven for now, it’s okay. Just make sure that you remember it’s there afterward and also, DON’T let anyone open the oven while they are there.

Clear the lounge of unsightly items and random toys. Store them away in your storage box, dust all cushions and wipe down any surface including the tv set.

Wipe down the basin, give the toilet a quick clean. Ensure that there is enough toilet paper. Again, store EVERYTHING out of the way, only leaving the bare essentials in an artful manner out. Dust off your bathroom mat, sweep up the bathroom. Give the shower/tub area a quick rinse.

Lifehack #4

Make your bed. Hide everything within cupboards. Open the curtains and windows. The more space and light in the room, the cleaner and better it looks. Arrange your dresser and essentials in an artful manner.

Final Touches

Give your entire home a spray with air freshener. Give everything a final sweep. Dust surfaces once more. Place something appealing to the eye within the line of sight you decided on earlier. This could be pictures or even some flowers if you’ve got them. Give yourself a quick wash and change up. Take a look around and you should be done.
